In August 2009, just a few months following Michael Jackson's passing, Elena Ioannides introduced an idea, a dream, to fellow fan Sherry Davis when they met via their participation in the Official Michael Jackson Tribute Portrait. Elena's dream was to honor Michael Jackson's life of music and humanitarianism by staging a tribute event in London. The task seemed daunting, although attainable to their empassioned hearts, and it was this passion and shared philosophy that propelled their collaboration. With vehement dedication accompanied by the loving support of friends, family and fellow fans, their journey successfully evolved into what is now Keeping the Dream Alive: A Tribute to Michael Jackson.
Elena's dream was borne out of the determination to encourage others to act on the message that Michael conveyed to audiences through his artistic and humanitarian actions. Posterity will certainly remember Michael Jackson as the child prodigy whose artistry evolved to revolutionize dance, popular music and the short film genre, but he will also be reflected upon as an equally outstanding philanthropist and humanitarian who led a relentlessly proactive life of charitable ambition that created forums for civic engagement worldwide.
Through his expressive citizenry he brought awareness, dialogue and progressive action to imperative issues such as children’s welfare, AIDS research and the environment. He always demonstrated hope for solutions to be discovered through the love, goodwill and forgiveness found in the brotherhood of man. Michael's "This Is It" tour was designed to address and revive his consistent and long-established message of hope and love, to once again excite and empower the global community to make necessary changes for the sake of the planet.
Michael's benevolence represents the philosophy of Keeping the Dream Alive and is the driving force behind our organization. Keeping the Dream Alive will carry forth the work and the message by commemorating the man, the music and his legacy of humanitarianism that continues to inspire postive and necessary change for the present and future state of our world.
